Since October 2016, at the Dijon Digital Centre, CESAM has been offering digital workshops to introduce local women to a number of digital tools.
Everyone requires access to digital technologies, every day. Staying up to date with how children are doing in school, administrative processes, medical services, leisure - all of these require us to use digital tools. The digital education workshops at the Digital Centres will teach participants how to use tablets and computers for practical, everyday tasks: sending emails, reading documents, saving media, looking up information…
Socio-linguistic workshops were set up in 1978 by CESAM a charity in Dijon offering skills training. Since then, these workshops have been hugely successful among local women.
Helping women becoming more autonomous in their day to day lives
Over thirty women, aged 22 to 60, meet twice a week to learn French. The aim is to enable participants to play more active roles within their neighbourhoods by becoming more autonomous in their day to day lives: health, school, education, family, leisure, citizenship.
This allows women to express themselves, understand, discuss and debate, better understand society and, in the end, integrate it better.
Using active and appealing learning tools (real documents, cultural visits, visiting speakers...), the teachers at CESAM offer expertise in teaching French for Integration to support participants accessing spoken and written French. It’s one more step towards integration and participation for women from deprived neighbourhoods.
