Alassane Diene: "promoting the spirit of solidarity in Orange Group subsidiaries"

All of the group’s subsidiaries are getting involved in volunteering week. Alassane Diene, Chairman of the Orange Foundation Board in Mali, gives us an overview of the initiatives in his country.

Alassane Diene, fondation orange mali semaine solidaritéInternational Volunteering Week, with its slogan "I care, I volunteer", was created by the Group Foundation to promote the spirit of solidarity within the Orange Group’s subsidiaries. It focuses on promoting the activities of employees who already volunteer and encouraging more employees to get involved.
To highlight its involvement alongside the network of volunteers currently being developed at Orange Mali, our foundation will be holding a number of activities from 5-10 October:

  • A blood drive for staff, to benefit the National Blood Transfusion Centre (CNTS). The blood drive will be held in the infirmary on 7 and 8 October 2015 and will be supervised by the Company Physician, with the support of the CNTS.
  • On 6 October, the distribution of a snack at AMALDEME, an institution which cares for children with mental disabilities. 300 children will receive a snack. We have also teamed up with the Malian Odontostomatologists Association (AOSMA) to spend the day raising awareness of oral hygiene and performing exams on the children at AMALDEME, including the distribution of tooth brushing kits.
  • On 10 October, we will host an IT training session for teachers from the Doumanzana and Mamadou Konaté schools, so the teachers can then train their students. The Orange Mali Foundation has provided both schools with fully-equipped multimedia rooms.
  • We will also be donating clothing and educational sponsorship coupons to children in the Sanankoroba SOS village.

Our volunteers’ network is kicking off its activities with these different initiatives.
