Autism and digital technology: new call for projects from Firah

Firah (The International Foundation for Applied Disability Research) is launching a new call for projects on digital technology and autism. The aim is to find projects that evaluate the interest and effectiveness of digital tools for children with autism.

In 2016, we supported Firah when they launched their first call for research proposals on the use of digital tools by people with autism. For 2017, a new call for projects has been launched to take the approach one step further.

Since 2012, we have supported initiatives linking autism and new technologies through our autism and digital technologies programme. As we are currently equipping various specialised establishments with digital resources, it seems important to conduct applied research to confirm the benefits that they provide.

Conditions of the call for projects

The projects put forward must be backed by organisations based in one of the 6 following countries: France, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg, the United Kingdom and Ireland. International collaboration between two or more of these 6 countries and/or involving other countries will be viewed favourably. The projects must relate to 2 to 18-year-old children. Specific attention will be paid to early childhood.

The development of new applications (of which there are already many) is not the focus of this second call for projects, which is concentrated on assessing, using and sharing existing solutions.
