Call for projects: Music festivals in Africa

As an extension of the musical patronage action initiated in 2019 on the African continent, the Orange Foundation is launching a Call for Projects for festivals and musical groups in the 16 countries in which Orange is present: Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Liberia, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Tunisia
Objective: to support the creation and dissemination of African music by accompanying young emerging African groups and music festivals with the capacity to develop and reach a large audience




Call for projects open to: Music festivals, French Institutes, French Alliances and Cultural Centres, Labels and production companies.
Attention: no individual support to private persons (artist, producer...)

Selection procedure: Foundation pre-selection with the Orange Country Foundations teams then final selection by the Orange Foundation + a committee of musical experts.

Submit your applications

Submit your application online until midnight January 31, 2022.
Enter the information by completing the online questionnaire.
The selection committee will take place at the end of February 2022 and the results will be announced before the end of the month.


Selection criteria


1/ Festival having existed for at least 2 years
2/ Minimum of 5 concerts programmed


  • Repertoires: world music, jazz, hip hop, rap, song ...
  • Artistic orientation enhancing the musical heritage of the countries and open to contemporary creation (meeting and/or fusion of traditional and contemporary music)
  • Programming of young talented musicians and singers from Africa who are professionals or in the process of becoming professionals

National and/or international scope
Reaching a large audience (minimum 1000 people)
Proposing solidarity and/or educational actions for the public

Budget (in Euros)
Realistic and balanced budget (proposed model)
Maximum support from the Orange Foundation corresponding to 25% of the overall budget up to a limit of 15,000€

Visibility and promotion
Capacity to promote the festival: website and social networks, media partners
Assurance of visibility for the Orange Foundation / other partners

Musical groups


  • Musicians from one of the 16 African countries mentioned above
  • Emerging scene: Professional artists or artists in the process of becoming professional, with promising career development prospects
  • Solo artist (voice, instrument) or musical group with voice
  • Repertoires: African music, world music, contemporary music, jazz, chanson, hip hop...

Type of project supported:

  • Concert tour 2022 in African countries (attach a calendar with dates and venues)
  • Record album (specify label, distribution, print run, titles recorded, recording and release dates)
  • Professional training: specify type of training, objectives and expected results

Application form

After filling in the online questionnaire, the partner must submit the following documents:

  1. Statutes of the organisation submitting the application
  2. Presentation of the festival or the musical group (date of creation, biographies of the artists ...)
  3. Artistic program 2022 (presentation of the artists and musical groups, number of members, musical style, song or album title)
  4. Concert calendar with dates / places / times / artists (specify for each concert if confirmed or planned)
  5. Detailed budget forecast for 2022 (model proposed for festivals)
  6. Balance sheet of the previous year or edition (proposed model)
