Call for projects - Villages and Mother and Child Health Programme 2020

The Orange Foundation’s “Villages” programme has so far been deployed in nearly 100 locations in 13 countries, providing nearly 500,000 beneficiaries with access to essential human development services (water, health and education). Since 2014, the Orange Foundation has invested more than €7 million to benefit the poorest populations.

The purpose of the programme is to install one - or more - sources of drinking water, a first aid health centre and a primary school in each of the villages which have identified these three factors as essential for their local development.

The Orange Foundation is launching a new call for projects for the 2020 "Villages" programme, exclusively reserved for Orange foundations and subsidiaries (in partnership with NGOs and local or international service-providing associations), in the following countries: Cameroon, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Madagascar, Guinea Conakry, Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, Burkina Faso, Tunisia.

This year, the “Villages and Maternal and Child Health” programme will focus exclusively on action to improve existing infrastructure and services in these countries (infrastructure, equipment, consumables, services, etc.) to provide access to water, electricity, health or education, as well as initiatives to generate income (market gardening, local services, crafts) for people without resources.
The projects can either benefit the entire population or address more specifically maternal and child health issues.

The 2020 call for projects therefore focuses on improving the programme in existing villages in the following ways:
  • maintaining and developing drinking water points (water conveyance)
  • equipping and extending health centres and/or schools
  • providing electricity for health centres, schools and other public infrastructure
  • creating new infrastructure and activities in addition to water, health and education (canteens, electrification, income-generating activities, educational leisure activities, etc.)
  • Creating activities that generate lasting revenue

The maximum funding for each project will be €50,000.

Submit your applications online between 14 September and 16 October 2020. Complete the online questionnaire and submit the description of your project including the itemised budget and the implementation schedule. The applications will be reviewed and then examined by the members of a selection committee made up of people from within and outside Orange. The selection committee meeting will be held in November 2020.
