Discover our Oak Hill volunteers!

At Oak Hill (Virginia), employees of the Orange division "Innovation, Marketing, Technologies" are engaged in volunteer actions. For the international volunteering week, discover the portraits of Lisa, Paul and Aicha.

Lisa Fredrich

Involved in Animal Assisted Therapy , which Lisa finds Fun and Rewarding!
Working with her dog Scout they make therapy visits with seniors, special needs populations, kids learning English or reading, rehab centers, hospitals, libraries and more.
Lisa took over leadership of about 30 teams operating as volunteers in Northern Virginia, training new teams and working with facilities they visit.
Lisa volunteers to make a difference in our communities. She finds it extremely rewarding- “to be able to connect to a kid that does not communicate in traditional environments, or bring a smile to an Alzheimer’s patient makes all the difference”

In the past, Lisa lead a successful Orange Passion project inspiring 15+ Orange employees located in different countries, who came together to participate in a ‘virtual triathlon’ to raise money for cancer.

Paul Speek

Involved in major projects helping people in very poor areas: Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, South Dakota-, and Mwanza region, Tanzania. In the Indian Reservation, which is one of the poorest areas in the USA, Paul and a team of volunteers perform housing repairs and renovations; in the evenings the group visit schools and meet the community.

In Tanzania, Paul himself found the financial support to bring tablets to the community, tripods and audio-playing equipment supported by solar batteries, and delivered a course in a classroom with no electricity, walls or water. His students learned base skills in Internet, Email, IM, Facebook, Skype, Photo/Video-recording etc.

Paul finds his volunteering work rewarding. He feels that we have everything in the area that we live in , that it is only right to give to others that are less fortunate. He strives to make others benefit from the experiences and relative wealth we enjoy in our area.

Aicha Janan

Aicha is an active volunteer supporting different events organized by her kids school. One of the projects that she is involved in is “Our Daily Bread” which delivers food or donations to neighbors in need providing short-term safety-net services and also empowering them to work toward long-term self-sufficiency.
Aicha joined this organization because of her desire to support her community and people in need.
Some of the events held by this organization include delivering school supplies to schools within Fairfax county to children in need in order to help them get a headstart for their back to school.. Aicha’s teenage daughter also joined in this volunteering effort

Aicha will be the captain for volunteering week in Oak Hill VA, where employees will support the Daily Bread organization. Donations raised by all employees will be delivered on Sunday November 8th by the volunteers who will also participate in “Complete the Circle” event in which donations and volunteers will be organized to part of a living art project.
