Encouraging schoolchildren to read books with "Les Petits champions de la lecture" (Young Reading Champs)

For the second year running, we are partnering "Les Petits champions de la lecture", a major national competition open to all schoolchildren in their last year of primary school. This group adventure sets out to introduce schoolchildren to books and encourage sharing, in a stimulating, playful environment.

What is this competition about?

The schoolchildren are asked to read out loud a text of their own choice in public; the first stage takes place under the responsibility of a teacher or a reading mediator. There is a four-stage selection process: first locally, then in each of France’s territorial departments, followed by a regional selection and, finally, a national stage, in June 2019, at the Comédie-Française in Paris.
It is first and foremost a game: the notion of pleasure is essential at every stage. The children choose their books and receive support in developing their oral and public speaking skills.

The Orange Foundation, a fervent proponent of culture for all, is committed to promoting reading, particularly among young people. Throughout this 2019 edition you will be able to follow the highlights of the competition on lecteurs.com.

How to register for "Les Petits champions de la lecture"

Teachers and reading mediators can register on the competition website Remember to spread the word to ensure that as many schools as possible take part in the adventure. Important: registrations close on 18th January 2019!
