On 19 October, the Arte channel and 300 cinemas will show a live broadcast of Verdi’s “Don Carlos”, performed at Opéra Bastille and directed by Krzysztof Warlikowski featuring the famous tenor Jonas Kaufmann.
To ensure that as many people as possible have access to music, in 2011 we chose to support the first Paris Opera broadcasts in cinemas.

The top opera and ballet performances are now broadcast in France at UGC and Mega GCR cinemas, as well as independent cinemas in smaller towns including Cucuron (84), Crozon (29) and Muret (31). Internationally, 17 countries (Europe, United States, Canada, Morocco, etc.) broadcast these performances live or at a later time.
For 30 years, we have been working to disseminate music and opera more widely to audiences without access to culture for socio-economic and/or geographic reasons, or for reasons related to age or health: broadcasting operas in cinemas and at open-air events as well as musical projects in hospitals or retirement homes, creating children’s and youth choirs and producing concerts in disadvantaged and rural areas.
The Orange Foundation’s partnership with the Paris Opera has been renewed for another 3 years.
