European recognition for Digitaliada

Digitaliada, the leader of digital education in Romania, was included as a best practice model in the Digital Inclusion Catalogue, part of the Medici project. More details are available here.

The "Medici" project is funded by the European Parliament and presents a map of good practices in the field of Digital Inclusion in Europe of the vulnerable and the disadvantaged. Currently, in this interactive catalogue of good practices on digital inclusion, Romania is represented by 13 projects. The role of this online map is to help stakeholders to identify best practices and approach the information in ways that meet their needs, in order to replicate solutions at local level.
This new recognition comes shortly after the "Online Learning and Testing" platform from Digitaliada won the 3rd place within "Romanian CSR Awards 2020", the most important competition in Romania, celebrating succesful initiatives in the field of corporate social responsibility.

"We are very excited to receive once again recognition for Digitaliada, our flagship program. Both awards mentioned above, show us first of all, that we are one step ahead in the right direction with our solutions. Secondly, they provide us with additional motivation to continue innovating in this field that has been in our focus for the past four years." declared Amalia Fodor, Director Orange Foundation Romania.

Digital education for ALL the children

Based on the results of an extensive research done in 2015 with GfK, that showed that schools had access to internet and equipment, but these resources were not being used in the classroom as the teachers did not know how to really use them, Orange Foundation Romania decided to take a 360 degrees approach in order to encourage digital education in Romania and create Digitaliada.

Launched in 2016, Digitaliada is an innovative project and the very first of this type in Romania, using interactive working methods and digital educational content in order to increase students’ school performance.

Moreover, Digitaliada was the 1st private program that entered the official curriculum, receiving approval to be used at the classroom and not during complementary education hours.

After 4 years of making accesible digital education for the children in the disadvantaged areas, Digitaliada means today:

  • 50 rural schools from 30 counties
  • 50 digital laboratories and 1500 tablets for individual study
  • 5,500 students and 164 teachers and principals
  • Over 2,000 free digital educational resources on
  • Over 30,000 users of the “Online Learning and Testing” Platform involved in transforming the classical education process

Over 600 teachers of different disciplines, that have received practical info and guidance on how to use digital education tools during the 28 webinars, held since the suspension of courses in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
