First digital training schemes for women in Jordan

We are opening five Women’s Digital Centres in Jordan in partnership with the NGO the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD). Jordan thus joins our network of 200 Women’s Digital Centres where the objective is to provide training in digital technology and women’s empowerment in countries where the Orange group is present.

Empowerment and digital education in Jordan

The five Women’s Digital Centres were inaugurated on 23rd September in Amman where the first participants in the programme now go to get an introduction to digital technology or to get support for their plans to create a business.

A springboard for women’s empowerment in Jordan

Here the women benefit from training and resources that will be their gateway to the digital world, whether to familiarise themselves with the technology or to help them with their plans to create a business. The training sessions aim to be practical, concerned with the issues that these Jordanian women meet on a daily basis.
The five new Digital Centres aimed at women in hardship will be set up in Mafraq, in Taybeh (Ma’an Governorate), in Madaba and at two locations in the country’s capital Amman, in the deprived district of Al Hashmi Shamali and the district of Marka.

“The Orange Foundation sees digital tools, technology and solidarity as the key principles of its philanthropic actions,” says President Delegate Christine Albanel. “The Women’s Digital Centres, of which there are now 200, are committed to using digital education as a springboard for empowerment, financial stability and professional development.”
