Helping women and children... In India too!

While we are already active in Europe and Africa, we now have projects in India too, a country which is home to an Orange Business Services centre. Brigitte Audy, Secretary General of the Orange Foundation, met some of the beneficiaries of our actions in the areas of digital education and professional training.

Children with autism in Delhi, making progress with digital technologies

In Delhi, we support a school for children with autism. Like with all of our actions addressing autism, we aim to be innovative. The School of Hope, run by Tanama uses a mix of digital technologies, human interaction, cultural activities and sport to help children learn. The school has been open since 1985 to support children depending on their specific needs. It has made a huge difference for children who are able to flourish in spite of their disability.

More autonomous women at the Digital House in Mumbai

Of the 94 Digital Centres which we support, the one in Mumbai has only been open a few weeks. A the inauguration, Brigitte Audy was able to congratulate and encourage the first women to receive training. The skills acquired enabled 20 women to successfully pass their driving test: a first step for them in terms of professional and financial autonomy. While some of them will become taxi drivers, passing their driving test means being able to travel freely and safely in the city!

Meeting volunteer employees

During her visit, Brigitte Audy also had the opportunity to meet the Orange Business Services teams based in Delhi - employees taking part in our solidarity actions, who don’t hesitate to give up their time to help those in need.

Employees, volunteers, beneficiaries... All these rewarding encounters and solidarity projects show us the importance of our actions in this resilient country. While projects are currently limited in scope, early results leave open the possibility of developing further solidarity projects in India!
