Music in hospitals

Since 2015, the Orange Foundation has been supporting the association, Tournesol, Artistes à l’hôpital (Sunflower, artists in hospitals) to put together a major choir project with the Aedes Ensemble. The choir will meet the hospital audience during its residence sessions and concerts.

The type of performance will be adapted to suit each individual situation, from more intimate bedside concerts to larger public performances.

The concerts make a major contribution to the cultural life of the hospital. The quality of the performances is also impressive, while the voice proves to be an effective means of touching patients and those who unable to communicate.
The experience also has an effect on the staff, who are surprised to see how interested they are in the unfamiliar repertoire and find themselves being swept up by the beauty of the music and the performance. They are touched by the effect of the music on the patients and residents.

The song of memories

This year with our support, the association Tournesol, Artistes à l’hôpital has chosen to pursue the “Song of Memories” project, involving the residents of hospitals in Nanterre and Boulogne-Billancourt.
The musicians create a dialogue with the residents through music. Together, they explore a repertoire that touches on the culture of the resident and that of the artist. To begin with, the residents express their taste in music and culture. The musicians and residents then work together to go beyond the mere discovery and listening to the pieces of music.

The artists compile a repertoire of fifty tunes from the 1930s – 1950s as well as songs from around the world (Western and Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean, Northern Africa, gypsy music) based on their exchanges with the residents. This interactive musical and literary dialogue allows dependant and isolated elderly people to get involved and express their choices and tastes.
