The committee which met on 19 October 2016 selected 30 projects which meet our selection criteria, including artistic interest, artist professionalism, repertoire (classical, jazz and world music), the number of concerts and geographic distribution. The selection committee renewed our support for 16 projects and selected 14 new projects to support.
Special attention was paid to artistic proposals which fit into our two major themes for vocal music: education, through distributing music and sharing it with a broader audience, and youth integration, through detecting young artists and supporting young ensembles with the potential to develop a national or international reputation.
We are proud to support new projects like Orpheus XXI, which met with universal acclaim from the selection committee. This project, which aims to support refugee integration through music, is led by Jordi Savall at the Saline Royale D’Arc-et-Senans in the Bourgogne-Franche Comté region of eastern France. In the North of France, the Ensemble Contraste will share its talents with middle school pupils through the creation of its Georgia project.
We are also supporting the development of the La Rêveuse group, based in Orleans, and the Opéra de Rennes, for the multicast of Carmen in around fifteen cities, as well as its various cultural and educational activities leading up to this large-scale broadcast, scheduled for 8 June 2017. The 2016-2017 season is highly promising, with strong commitments and emotions as we celebrate the Orange Foundation’s 30th anniversary!
