Philippe Vierno: "Disability at Orange, constant solidarity"

Philippe Vierno is Deputy Head of Orange Customer Service Information for the south-east region. In honour of volunteering week, he told us about solidarity and well-being at work.

Disability awareness is an important issue for managers in our department. All visible disabilities or any disabilities reported by employees are taken into consideration and we provide all the necessary support. They are assisted and supported by their HR assistant. The disabled employee can therefore get involved, perform to the best of their abilities and get the same respect as their non-disabled colleagues.

Magali, a visually impaired operator within my department, considers the progress made after the adjustment of her workstation for her job: "Now I feel good, I feel like anyone else, everyone cares about my well-being and disability as a priority. Everything is done so that my disability does not cause issues and everything works well."

"Our aim is not to leave anyone behind"

Furthermore, we shouldn’t forget or underestimate invisible disabilities which are often not reported by the employee. They actually often have more difficulties due to an internal condition which is not understood or supported. For these reasons, it is vital that there is confidence and mutual respect between the employee and their line manager so that they understand the condition and thus provide vital assistance to the employee.

As a result all the managers in our department pay particularly close attention to these situations and their management is always based on SMSST principles (Occupational Health & Safety Management System).

Our aim is not to leave anyone behind in terms of workplace support and well-being.
