SolBag

FabLab Ker Thiossane - Dakar

In Dakar, power cuts are commonplace and pose a real problem for the city’s residents. To solve part of the problem, the second Ker Thiossane Solidarity FabLab team have come up with the SolBag. The bag is fitted with a solar panel, batteries, a convertor and a light. The bag’s main function is to charge low voltage devices (5 volts), such as smartphones and tablets. The bag can also be used to carry things in, and can light up at night when the bag is moving.

The SolBag not only holds your belongings, but it also provides electricity. With the prototype now available, several bags have been tested in the suburbs of Dakar in order to make any improvements needed.
