“Solidarity is everyone’s business!”

For the Orange Volunteering Week, employees of seven "Innovation, Marketing, Technologies" (IMT) international sites committed themselves. More than 600 volunteers engaged in humanitarian actions, always fulfilling the needs of the countries. Discover what has been done or will be done in Beijing, Gurgaon/ India, Hong Kong, Tunis, Bratislava, Oak Hill/ USA and for the first time in Montreal/ Canada.


Orange Labs Beijing has decided to organize more than a collect for Tibetans located in ShanNan in Tibet. They wanted to raise an awareness among the lab‘s employees for sustainable development behaviors and environment protection. It meant recycling resources, sorting, packaging all stuff, all together as one lab, one team. “It is not just a one -time action for us but it is a long term commitment and our responsibility for the future.”

In Gurgaon/India, the whole week will be dedicated to health awareness.

11 various sessions are planned from life style management and healthy eating, yoga, gynecology issues, dental awareness to ophthalmology screening…
This week will also attend to mobilize employees to become more responsible towards society and to inform them about the Corporate Social Responsibility projects developed in India: ” I care,I volunteer”.

Notre collègue Our colleague Sandeep Goyal has voluntary developed the application” Kanu Talks” for speech impairment or Autism persons.

This app provides the digital solution to the commonly used Flash cards for better audio and visual communication. This app will make the lives of the people/children with speech impairment or Autism more simple by enhancing their communication capabilities.
It will also help people with oral or throat cancer to challenge their speech.
It has got a home page with several buttons to navigate to another screen. The other screen has a larger picture which will speak out the need by clicking on it. With the home button on this screen the child can go back to the home screen.
This app is compatible with all the android based devices such as mobiles phones and tabs. It is free and always will be!


In Hong Kong, International Carriers decided to make a donation of clothing and goods for the Recycling Program of The Salvation Army during that week for the second times. Donated goods are sorted, distributed and sold in Family Stores in Hong Kong and Macau. The net proceeds will go to The Salvation Army for use across its invaluable community programs. Some of the donated goods will be directly helping people in need, such as home alone elderly, street sleepers, ex-prisoners and comprehensive social security assistance recipients.


In Tunis Orange Labs , on Saturday, October 10th, a morning and afternoon development training sessions on Scratch language will be organized for the benefits of underprivileged children. The children will be hosted in the Orange Development Center in Tunisia. For Rym Sahnoun, head of OLPS Tunisia, “Solidarity is everyone’s business!” Volunteers are using their competencies to contribute to the development of digital education for all in their country.

In Bratislava, the month of September was dedicated to volunteering and solidarity with 3 main actions.
On September 4th, the Social Committee organized its first environmental volunteering event. Volunteers were involved in the cleaning of a section of the Maly Dunaj river bank and they managed to collect altogether 30 bags of trash.

A first very positive volunteering experience for our collegues in Bratislava.

On Monday, September 7th a blood donation was organized by Orange Slovakia in cooperation with the National Transfusion Service. 14 liters of blood from 31 donors were gathered.

From September 15th to 20th, during our National holiday, a few volunteers went to clean & repair High Tatras, the highest mountain of Slovakia. The focus was on the maintenance of hiking trails, cleaning of drainage grooves, painting of benches and tourist shelters.


In Oak Hill/Virginia, it has been decided that no one should get hungry. They are going for raising awareness and fight hunger in their community with the project called “Our Daily Bread”.
First, they will invite employees to bring donations of nonperishable food, cleaning supplies and gift cards for groceries. Then, on November 8th, volunteers who want to join will bring the donations and will pay a $5 fee to be part of a living art event called “fill in the circle”. All volunteers, including children will join together to create a “living painting” while the donations will make the circle. Then, the image will be photographed from the sky like last year.

Our Montreal office is recycling printer cartridges for the Mira Foundation program which aims to bring greater autonomy to the visually, physically and mentally handicapped people, to facilitate their social integration by providing them service dogs."
Actually Mira is having a great success with service dogs for physically and mentally impaired persons.
