The fundamentals of the Orange Foundation and the digital revolution, by Brigitte Audy

In an interview with eve le blog, Brigitte Audy presents an overview of the Orange Foundation’s position. She explains how the Orange Foundation implements its historic and fundamental commitments in the context of the new challenges presented by the digital revolution.

The Foundation developed around a determination to promote equal opportunities in connection with communication and learning. Historically, it has been active in three areas: healthcare, culture and education.

With regards to healthcare, the Foundation has long been involved with autism, particularly by supporting research and institutions. To improve understanding of a disorder which is linked to communication and offer better quality of life to people with autism, the Foundation now also supports digital learning programmes.

austism and digital

Because song and the spoken word create such strong connections, and because we believe in access to these art forms for everyone, we sponsor a number of festivals and have been supporting new artists since 1987. More recently, we have developed a partnership with the Opera to democratise access, making us one of the leading sponsors for live-streaming operas to indoor and open-air cinemas.

Education is an area in which the Foundation has made significant investments over several years. In the past we have supported projects, often in developing countries, to empower the local population, particularly women and girls. Throughout 2015, in addition to these types of action, we have centred our efforts around digital technologies which improve equality of opportunity... particularly through digital programmes to support young people not in education or training and vulnerable women.
