"The mystery of the blue squirrel": when opera meets the internet

The world of opera is going online. From 6 pm on 21 February, discover a live online event in the shape of a musical thriller: the mystery of the blue squirrel, a whodunnit at the Opéra Comique.

This opera-event was dreamt up by composer Marc-Olivier Dupin and director and librettist Ivan Grinber. The performance is exclusively available online and will be performed and live-streamed from a secret location. It presents a story full of mystery and thrills (suitable for audiences age eight and over).
The broadcast will reach a wide audience and is part of a drive to widen access to culture. The film will be used used to develop educational materials for after-school workshops. A web documentary will also be made following this first broadcast.

The story

This web-opera musical thriller includes nods to the Opéra Comique repertoire, and other theatrical sites and professions.
The story is set in the Opéra Comique, just before the opening gala night following the renovation of the building. With the big night approaching fast, the building is plunged into chaos when the lead singer, Adèle, is unceremoniously replaced by another singer. People start to disappear, and a gloomy atmosphere descends upon the opera house. Under pressure from his patron, Saint-Germain must do everything to save the gala...
