“Voix Nouvelles” competition: the finals start this week!

We support the Voix Nouvelles Competition, as a way to discover young talents and help them achieve professional success. The first regional finals are this week! In 2018, following the largest competition yet, open to over 600 lyrical singers under 32 years old, just 6 winners will be selected.

The regional finals are starting this week in three cities: at the Opéra de Marseille on Monday 16 October at 7 pm, at the Opéra de Tours on Tuesday 17 October at 8 pm and at the Opéra de Massy on Thursday 19 October at 7 pm and Friday 20 October at 7 pm. These finals follow the audition and elimination rounds held in each region in September.
During the finals, each singer will perform two operatic arias written for their range, one of them from a French opera. The jury members include musicians, directors of operas, conservatories, and music schools, voice teachers, and artists.

The regional finals are open to the public and broadcast live on the competition’s Facebook page. The page also features music clips, interviews with the finalists in each region, portraits of young singers, backstage visits to opera houses... as well as the finalists from each stage.

After the 17 regional finals end in late December 2017, the best singers from the different regions will be invited to compete in the national final on 10 February 2018 at the Opéra Comique in Paris. The 6 winners will receive cash prizes, will perform in the winners’ concert at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées on 24 September 2018, and will perform on tour across France.
