‘Women Act and Win’: a project to help women who are facing difficulties

The ‘Women act and win’ project was launched in 2011 in Moldova. Since 2013, this project has been run by the NGO ‘Demos’, with the total support of the Orange Foundation Moldova and in partnership with the Ministry of labour, social protection and the family in Moldova.

The project is aimed at vulnerable women: women who are victims of domestic violence and human trafficking as well as women with no income. It aims to ensure that these women find sustainable employment.
Since it was launched, more than 1,500 women in 16 departments and towns and cities in the country have been able to benefit from this programme.

In 2015, 244 women were selected to take part in the programme, and among these women, 110 revealed management skills. They were therefore chosen to attend group training sessions on the business world, self-awareness and personal development.

The 52 finalists of the ‘Women act and win’ project received personal advice on developing their business as well as pecuniary subsidies from the Orange Foundation Moldova. The financial awards given offer the finalists the opportunity to start their own business. Today, these women manage companies in different fields: sewing, agriculture and beauty.

Ludmila Caminschii, beneficiary, Riscani district: “I received hairdressing equipment: to straighten hair, hair-dryers and clippers. With this equipment, I can do different hairstyles and offer quality cuts.”
With this project, these women now have a chance at a better future.
