Yves-André Leroux: "We have great volunteers"

In honour of international volunteering week, Yves-André Leroux, Director of Orange East, told us about his region’s charitable endeavours.

This year’s volunteering week highlights our societal commitments, which are brought to life by the initiatives we, the people of Orange, take through our Foundation to help those in need. I am very proud of the involvement of our employees here in the East. We have great volunteers who give their time to teach digital workshops or classes on social networking for people who often lack that type of knowledge.
At the Orange East division, we also have nearly seventy people working in skills philanthropy. They are very involved in local and national charities, as well as Orange Solidarity. They put their enthusiasm and expertise to work on a wide range of projects. And of course there are also the employees and retirees whose projects are sponsored by the Foundation, like Carrefour de Dun, a project we are delighted to support, which aims to recreate social ties by screening films in rural areas.

"Let’s keep developing solidarity"

Our employees’ involvement is remarkable and volunteering week highlights that. Our work on culture, education and healthcare creates resonance for our brand and builds its trust capital. A few particularly good examples are the Khan Academy, which offers access to free online French-language maths courses for primary and secondary pupils, the digital autism network which brings together professionals and associations in Lorraine, and the two Solidarity FabLabs we support in Strasbourg and Vannes-le-Châtel.

The needs and expectations exist, particularly when it comes to people who lack access to digital technology. I want to encourage everyone who’s interested to take the leap and join their colleagues to continue developing solidarity here in the East.
